Blair believes that Beckham’s charity work and run
as England’s captain have made him worthy of the honour that would see
him named Sir Beckham.

A source told the Star: “The Beckham’s are already showbiz royalty and now
they look set to move a step closer to the real thing. It is widely believed
that that Tony Blair will put David forward for a knighthood in the New Year
list.

“He was a fantastic skipper for England, and there’s every chance he will be
back. He’s also done a tremendous amount for children and the community.

“His football academies, including the flagship one in London, are a
fabulous gift for future generations.

“He contributed a huge amount to the successful London Olympic bid and you
can see the quality of man he is by the loving way he is with his family and
others. The PM would get enormous credit for getting David knighted.”
